Families

As an Old Town Alexandria photographer, I often work with families who are figuring out the best timing for their photo sessions. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely family of four, including their two-year-old daughter and three-month-old baby boy. I love that this family chose to wait a bit longer before scheduling their newborn photos. We chose the morning for this session, since kiddos tend to be happier then, and this day that was very much the case. We started in Founder’s Park right by the water and then made our way to some of the cobblestone streets for more variety.

Their decision to delay the session past the typical “newborn” stage was thoughtful and intentional. Instead of the typical newborn stage, they wanted to capture their son when he looked more like “himself.” Babies change so quickly in those first few weeks, and some parents feel that waiting a bit longer shows more of their child’s personality.

Additionally, choosing to wait made the session less stressful for everyone. When a baby is three months old, parents have often found more of a rhythm with the new addition to their family. This can lead to a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

In our session, their baby boy was full of smiles and giggles, showing off his blossoming personality. Their two-year-old daughter was equally sweet and curious, and the two made the cutest sibling duo. We explored the cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria and found some beautiful spots to document this special time in their lives.
