The thing I love about being a family photographer in Dayton is getting to see families over time for multiple sessions! It was a pleasure to see the B family for a family photo session . They also had a maternity session and newborn session with me in 2020. It’s been so fun to see Bailey grow!

This session was taken when I was still based in Charlottesville, VA. We met at one of my favorite Charlottesville photo session locations, Ivy Creek Nature Preserve, in the early afternoon. This is a great location if your little one can’t do true sunset time but you still want that golden hour glow. There’s lots of shade here so we can hide in that to avoid the harsh light if it’s a sunny day.
Little miss B did so amazing for these photos. She is just shy of 8 months here and was all smiles for me!
They absolutely nailed their session! There wasn’t even a baby meltdown, blowout or anything! Between 8-9 months is a sweet spot time to do photos with your baby. They aren’t in that stranger danger phase yet and also most likely can’t walk/run away from the camera yet either. Just smiles and such a sweet age!
As a mom, I can assure you that documenting yourself in the photos of your baby’s first year is not something you’ll regret. I know postpartum is hard. I am 4 and 6 years post baby days with my girls and I only wish I had more photos of us together. Get in the photos, mamas! You will not regret it for a second!
I can’t wait to see them again for Bailey’s one year cake smash session!
